The Sacramento Coalition to End the War, made up of several peace & justice groups in Sacramento, California, has been conducting a “peace-in” in Representative Doris Matsui’s Sacramento office since January 8. The Coalition’s single request is that Representative Matsui issue a public statement that she will vote NO on any further funding for the occupation. Although Matsui says she was against the occupation from the beginning, she has voted for every supplemental funding request to keep the horrific occupation going. The Coalition has a coordinator in Matsui’s office during office hours from 8:30am-5pm and invites Matsui’s constituents to come in and tell Matsui’s staff that they want the occupation ended and the troops brought home now. The Coalition has also held several news briefings in front of the Federal Building where Matsui’s office is located and has received good coverage. By holding this peaceful, office-hours sit-in, the Coalition has been able to involve a lot of people and keep consistent pressure on Matsui. For more information call 916-448-7157 or email
