On February 5, the Senate failed to delay the “Troop Surge”, so it us up to “We the People” to up the stakes in a nonviolent manner.
As Crawford Texas is located in central Texas, Camp Casey is well located to network throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
Plans are underway to conduct occupations in Austin, Waco and Dallas of those elected officials offices that have refused to obey the will of the people to end this illegal, immoral and ill conceived war and the on going occupation in Iraq.
We have arrived at the moment of truth as to the future of our nation. It seems that the Bush-Neo-Con handful of war criminals are about to not only escalate the war in Iraq, but also expand the war into Iran.
We now have an opportunity to put our feet into the doors of those that profess to lead us into deeper military involvement in the Gulf region. So, clearly, it is up to us to, “up the stakes”, as Ms. Cindy Sheehan has encouraged during the Christmas/New Years Gathering that occurred here recently.
For myself, I am a non violent, civil disobedience trainer and I am willing to travel to cities throughout Texas and Oklahoma to offer workshops in organizing affinity groups and prepare communities for the act of sit-ins and occupations of the offices of such members of the Senate as Kay Baily Hutchison, R. TX, Sen. John Cornyn, R. TX, Rep. Chet Edwards D. TX, 17 district in Waco and all other Representatives that refuse to obey the will of the people.
The communities that are represented in this message include, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Waco, Crawford, Austin, San Antonio and southern Oklahoma.
If we can coordinate our efforts on a regional basis, we have the opportunity to underscore our message to those in Congress that it is time to join the Peace Surge, not the War Surge.
People like Kathy Kelly, Cindy Sheehan, DeDe Millar, Diane Baker and many others have inspired us as to the possibility of freeing the world of this growing quagmire. Let us follow their example as we proceed and join this non violent revolution.
Today, the Senate failed to end the War Surge by 49 to 47 in a non binding resolution. We can make the difference as it is clear that we are now in the vast majority. As Gandhi stated; “when the people lead, the leaders will follow”. Let us lead.
It should be mentioned that it is not necessary for each community member to join in an act of civil disobedience, but IT IS IMPORTANT that those that are willing to risk arrest are supported by the broader community so that those in jail receive the help they require form their loving community or affinity group.
“If not us, who? If not now, when?” We have spoken till blue in the face, now is the time for action as that will speaker louder then words.
Please distribute this message to the broader community and other cities.
