Here in Portland, Oregon, a group of people are signing up to visit US Senator Gordon Smith’s office daily from January 16 until at least the supplemental funding vote on the occupation of Iraq. Whitefeather Catholic Worker community is hosting the meetings and trainings and we seek to have at least two people lobbying each day, one to risk arrest and one to offer support. People are signing up for one of those roles and we intend to kick off the campaign January 16 in honor of the memory of Dr. King. We welcome anyone who is willing to sign our Nonviolence Pledge.
